Magic Earth is an app with which you can always find the best route to your destination, even if you have no Internet connection. The app uses information from the OpenStreetMap collaborative database and, thanks to its powerful search engine, is able to offer you the optimal routes for driving, walking, cycling or public transport.
The first thing that stands out about Magic Earth is that it doesn't require an Internet connection. You only need a connection to download the maps before starting a trip, so you can use the Wi-Fi of any location for this first step, and not reconnect the app to the Internet. All these maps, more than 200 in total, are based on OpenStreetMap, and can be viewed in 3D, 2D, or with a satellite perspective.
Once you have the map of your country or community downloaded, you can easily start planning out routes. All you have to do is type in the destination address, choose the means of transport you are going to use, and the app will show you the fastest route. In addition to this, although the app doesn't store its users' private data, you'll be able to set up recurring places to make it easier to plan routes. For example, you can set an address as Home, to create return routes more quickly.
Download Magic Earth if you want to try an alternative to Google Maps and other similar apps. This app won't store your information, doesn't require registration, is completely free, and uses OpenStreetMap maps, a project created by the community.
